For 2018 I chose the word LIGHTEN in an attempt to lighten my life in many ways: my stress, my stuff, my body. I tried to throw off the things holding me down and even though the second half of the year was a bend in the road I hadn’t anticipated, I feel like the word was a success. During the home remodel we definitely lightened a ton of stuff that was tossed or donated. There is still some work to do there, but we are committed to getting rid of stuff and not accumulating more. I only lost a few more pounds during the year, but didn’t gain any, so I am feeling stable and almost pain-free. Unfortunately, I didn’t lighten my stress but because I began the year with many projects going early, I was able to mostly weather the end of year deadlines, so I call that a win.
Even though I’m just getting around to posting this, I actually chose my word for 2019 at the end of November. It came to me in a flash and I’ve never wavered. I’m actually excited about it, as it’s a yearly attempt to use a word to influence my state of mind and create a structure and framework for my life. Thanks to Ali Edwards for the idea. So my word for 2019 is FINISH. I have so many projects that I want to finish and I don’t want to start many new ones, but rather climb out from under the pile of projects that I’m excited about doing but haven’t been disciplined enough to stick with to the end. I have a quilting buddy who is acting as my partner to get many of the quilty projects accomplished. Fortunately for me, she shares many of the same projects so we are committing to another afternoon together to finish. I have personal history and family history goals, as well as scrapping goals and home organization goals. So lots to finish this year.
