Two more more barns built this fall and with only two more to go, we are starting to think about the endgame.
We did a lovely Maple Leaf block on a barn with silo for the fall season. We both fell in love with that darling silo fabric and decided we had to each use it, so we fussy cut the silos a little to get the big yellow flowers and stems where we wanted. Team ShaRee went with a brown barn and tied in the green leaves on the silo by using a green plaid roof. Darling!
Team Sue went to her favorite color, green, for the barn, then used a brown fall leaf fabric for the roof with a matching print in gold for the window. These barns are really showing off their fall colors!
The next week we did a cute Pinwheel block on another barn with silo. Team ShaRee used some 1930’s reproduction fabrics for her pinwheels against the green shades in the barn. This is the failed barn we chose not to use a couple weeks ago. It is darling but didn’t go well with the block after it was all sewn together, so we hurriedly cut and sewed a new barn for her block on the spot. Knowing we had this cute barn to use this time, Team ShaRee carefully chose pinwheel colors to complement it and the whole thing is a smashing success. And she loves both blocks!
Team Sue did a farm-fresh blue and red barn and then used a charm pack discovered in her studio for the pinwheels. Because it’s always fun to use unexpected treasures!
After sewing, we spent some time planning and cutting kits for the last two barns. Then it will be time to lay them all out and start sewing the sashing.
