In the last two weeks of group sewing, we made the last two barn blocks for the quilt. Last week’s block was the Summer Star block. This is the only “twinner” block we made. We both loved this barn and roof fabric and decided to use them. As we were looking at fabrics for the blocks on the side of the barn, we just found these fabrics that worked and decided to go the same and be twins. Because of the planning we did, this is probably the most harmonious of all the barns. Most of the wall blocks are independent of the barn fabrics, but this one all blends together. I took the photo alphabetically: Team ShaRee on the left and Team Sue on the right. [Read more…] about Last of the barn blocks

2014 Finishing the Series wrap-up
1) All books that are part of a continuing series qualify.
2) It doesn’t matter if you have 1 or 10 books in a series to complete it, it qualifies. The goal is to complete a series from wherever you are up to until the last published book.
Choose a level….
Level 1 – Complete 1 series.
Level 2 – Complete 2 series.
Level 3 – Complete 3 or more series.
My goal for this challenge was Level 2 and I actually completed four series this year so I’m calling this one because I have outdone myself. I completed the following four series:
- Flavia de Luce Mystery by Alan Bradley
- Booktown Mystery by Lorna Barrett
- Rose Harbor by Debbie Macomber
- Blossom Street by Debbie Macomber
Fall Barns
Two more more barns built this fall and with only two more to go, we are starting to think about the endgame.
We did a lovely Maple Leaf block on a barn with silo for the fall season. We both fell in love with that darling silo fabric and decided we had to each use it, so we fussy cut the silos a little to get the big yellow flowers and stems where we wanted. Team ShaRee went with a brown barn and tied in the green leaves on the silo by using a green plaid roof. Darling! [Read more…] about Fall Barns
Gentle Spectrums wrap-up
I had an invite from RIEDEL Fascination to join one of her new reading challenges and I’m always game for a new one. These go February 1st, 2014 – February 28th, 2015 so we’re not spending the holidays finishing books and posting wrap-up posts. Great idea! Also she’s not big on lots of picky rules so they are fairly straightforward.
Fall in Yellowstone-Day Three
This was a nice, sunny Indian summer day in the park. We started the day by getting caught in a traffic jam. Fortunately we were at the front end of it because there was a mother grizzly and her cub right by the side of the road and we were up close and personal. So awesome to see them and it was the first time for us to actually see bears in Yellowstone! Woo-hoo!
