Now that Christmas is over I can do the big reveal of my recent finishes! The first is a lap quilt for Mark who loves all things beachy. I began it in January as a project with my quilting partner who made hers of bright pink, teal, and mustard prints with a white background. We worked on them every other week. The pattern is called “Pow-Wow” by Cluck Cluck Sew and I used prints from the “Shore Thing” and “Going Coastal” collections by Emily Herrick for Michael Miller fabrics. The gray pindot background is “Here Boy!” by Abi Hall for Moda Fabrics, the blue solid on the back is “Solids” by Polly Minick & Lauri Simpson for Moda Fabrics, and the binding is “Best.Day.Ever!” by April Rosenthal of Prairie Grass Patterns for Moda Fabrics. Paint My Eyes
“Paint My Eyes” is a new musical that premiered last night at BYU and we were in the audience for the very first performance! Brian played Herr Freymann who has painful memories of the horrible night of Kristallnacht in Germany and meets with two LDS missionaries who are dealing with life. The music is beautiful and the story is powerful as other characters all converge on the anniversary of that night with their own memories. Brian gave a touching performance and the other members of the cast were absolutely fantastic. The staging was minimalist, the visual projections added to the drama, and one of the missionaries provided the comic relief in a story with deep and profound emotions. BYU Young Ambassadors just released another music video of last year’s cast and is the opening number that has Brian doing some solo work.
Rockin’ at The Wall
Recently, we headed down to BYU’s The Wall to hear the boys make some music. It’s a fun place to hang out and I like the Italian sodas. My favorite is their Black Mamba. 🙂 And yes, those are both for me! Rock on!
