My Church Service Mission

November 30, 2014 by Sue Leave a Comment

nametagI was released as a Church Service Missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints a month ago and have put off writing about my experience because I felt I needed a little time to process it all. The last week of service was very emotional as I said goodbye to many friends and I needed to get some distance before I did some blogging. [Read more…] about My Church Service Mission

Paint My Eyes

10703842_10152913402634954_2786889537467529051_o“Paint My Eyes” is a new musical that premiered last night at BYU and we were in the audience for the very first performance! Brian played Herr Freymann who has painful memories of the horrible night of Kristallnacht in Germany and meets with two LDS missionaries who are dealing with life. The music is beautiful and the story is powerful as other characters all converge on the anniversary of that night with their own memories. Brian gave a touching performance and the other members of the cast were absolutely fantastic. The staging was minimalist,  the visual projections added to the drama, and one of the missionaries provided the comic relief in a story with deep and profound emotions. Last of the barn blocks

November 20, 2014 by Sue Leave a Comment

In the last two weeks of group sewing, we made the last two barn blocks for the quilt. Last week’s block was the Summer Star block. This is the only “twinner” block we made. We both loved this barn and roof fabric and decided to use them. As we were looking at fabrics for the blocks on the side of the barn, we just found these fabrics that worked and decided to go the same and be twins. Because of the planning we did, this is probably the most harmonious of all the barns. Most of the wall blocks are independent of the barn fabrics, but this one all blends together. I took the photo alphabetically: Team ShaRee on the left and Team Sue on the right. [Read more…] about Last of the barn blocks

2014 Finishing the Series wrap-up

November 18, 2014 by Sue Leave a Comment

1) All books that are part of a continuing series qualify.

2) It doesn’t matter if you have 1 or 10 books in a series to complete it, it qualifies. The goal is to complete a series from wherever you are up to until the last published book.

Choose a level….

Level 1 – Complete 1 series.
Level 2 – Complete 2 series.
Level 3 – Complete 3 or more series.

My goal for this challenge was Level 2 and I actually completed four series this year so I’m calling this one because I have outdone myself. I completed the following four series:

  • Flavia de Luce Mystery by Alan Bradley
  • Booktown Mystery by Lorna Barrett
  • Rose Harbor by Debbie Macomber
  • Blossom Street by Debbie Macomber

Fall Barns

November 12, 2014 by Sue Leave a Comment

Two more more barns built this fall and with only two more to go, we are starting to think about the endgame.

We did a lovely Maple Leaf block on a barn with silo for the fall season. We both fell in love with that darling silo fabric and decided we had to each use it, so we fussy cut the silos a little to get the big yellow flowers and stems where we wanted. Team ShaRee went with a brown barn and tied in the green leaves on the silo by using a green plaid roof. Darling! [Read more…] about Fall Barns
